The housing health and safety rating system helps identify and protect against possible risks caused by deficiencies in the home. It applies to all residential properties in England.
The rating system works on the likelihood of an occupant becoming injured and the outcome of an occupant having an accident. Identified hazards will be scored and given a category 1 or 2 rating which decides what enforcement action is needed.
