Recycling is a weekly collection of a wide range of materials. Materials should be sorted by residents into different containers to speed up collections and produce high quality recycling for selling to make into new products.

General waste is a three weekly collection of non-recyclable waste only.

Garden waste is a stand-alone, paid for subscription service collected fortnightly for majority of the year and monthly in winter.

On your collection day

Your containers should be put out on the edge of your property for collection by 6.30am on your scheduled collection day.

Your collection point at the edge of your property might be:

  • the end of your driveway where it meets the public footpath
  • the end of a private road where it meets the main road
  • at the rear of your property outside a back gate in a parking area
  • on a public footpath outside your property (please return the bin to your property as soon as possible after collection)
  • a communal bin collection point for a set of properties

Bins and boxes

  • containers belong to the council
  • a full set is provided to each property free of charge, replacement containers for lost and damaged and additional containers can be requested online
  • you should put your house number on them so they don't get mixed up with your neighbours
