UKSPF community grants: who can apply

Please note: to fully understand the requirements of the UKSPF Community Grants, you must read the full guidance notes.

Applications can be made by individual organisations, or jointly between two or more organisations (with a ‘lead organisation’ representing them). Please see the guidance notes and What we fund page for more information.

You can apply for a UKSPF Community Grant if your organisation (or the lead organisation in a joint application) is one of the following:

  • unincorporated association
  • charitable trust
  • charitable incorporated organisation
  • community interest company
  • charitable community benefit society
  • company limited by guarantee
  • town or parish council

You can email policypartnershipteam@n-somerset.gov.uk to discuss your application if you are any other type of voluntary organisation or community group.

Your organisation should also:

  • be based in North Somerset with the project being delivered in North Somerset
  • have a written health and safety policy, updated within the last three years
  • have a written equality and diversity statement, updated within the last three years
  • have a written safeguarding policy, updated within the last three years
  • comply with Disclosure and Barring Service checks (where there will be contact with children or vulnerable adults)
  • have public liability insurance to a minimum of £5,000,000
  • have employer liability insurance (if you have paid employees) to a minimum of £5,000,000
  • have one year's accounts
  • have a bank account

Your organisation (or the lead organisation in a joint application) must also be below Subsidy Control limits – you will need to confirm this as part of the application process. Please see Sections 2.6 and 2.7 of the guidance notes for more information.

You will not be eligible if you are:

  • a business that is not a social enterprise
  • an individual

If you can't meet all the requirements

We recognise that newer or smaller community groups and organisations may not be able to meet all of the requirements. We are still very interested to hear about your project. You can email:

You can discuss:

  • applying as part of a partnership or collaborative bid working with a lead applicant organisation
  • the potential to work on developing policies for your group or organisation if appropriate
  • your organisation’s potential to work with a larger, constituted organisation including, for example a VCSE organisation, or town or parish council

We will consider all applications that meet the eligibility criteria but as we are the accountable body for the North Somerset UKSPF, we will prioritise applications for projects or activities that can clearly demonstrate planned delivery of the UKSPF Interventions.

You can view our guidance notes for full information on who can apply and eligibility requirements.
