If your penalty charge notice has a reference number beginning with FP, it has been issued directly by the council.
You can pay in one of two ways:
- by phone
- by post

Paying by phone
Payment can be made at any time over the phone using our automated payment system. This system accepts card payments only.
To do this, you will need:
- your debit/credit card details
- your notice reference number
Please note we do not accept Visa Electron or American Express.
If you need help, call the 01934 number and pick option two.
This is available only during office hours, 9AM to 5PM, Monday to Friday.
Paying by post
To pay via post, you will need to send:
- the payment slip from your FPN
- payment via cheque
Please make cheques payable to North Somerset Council, ensuring they are signed.
We will count your payment as received when it reaches our payment office. Please allow at least two working days for first class post and five working days for second class post for your payment to arrive.

Appeals
If you have received an FPN, and you don't agree you committed the offence, your only right of appeal is in a court.
It will be up to the court, on receiving evidence, to decide whether an offence was committed and if you should pay the penalty.
Disputing your notice
You can query a FPN. This is called a representation.
Representations must be made in writing. We cannot accept representations over the phone.
To make a representation for an FPN issued with a reference number beginning with FP, email, or send a letter by post to our team.
