Rob Beckley, a highly respected figure in law enforcement with a distinguished policing career spanning 38 years, is retiring from the police service and stepping into the role of High Sheriff of Somerset. His appointment was formally declared in Wells Cathedral at the annual Somerset Legal Service on 17th March 2024.

Some bus services across the North Somerset area are set to change from 7 April 2024. Changes include higher frequency services to better connect communities, and revisions to timetables to help improve reliability.

Some bus services across the North Somerset area are set to change from 7 April 2024 to enhance and better support the region’s wider bus network. As a result, the 127-service will be ending at the end of term on Thursday 28 March. It will be restructured to enable the 126 service to serve Weston College students and commuters travelling into Weston-super-Mare at peak morning and evening journey times.

From Monday 4 March, North Somerset Council is trialling a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in three roads in Portishead.

Residents living in Claverham and Cleeve will have access to a new bus service from Sunday 7 April. The X5 bus service running approximately hourly between Portishead and Weston-super-Mare will be re-routed to serve the villages after North Somerset Council listened to requests from residents at the council’s first Bus Forum held in December.
