Work to refurbish three pedestrian crossings in North Somerset will be carried out over the next few weeks.

Crossings at Nailsea Park Road in Nailsea and at Queensway / Hogarth Walk and Queensway / Vicarage Close in Worle, Weston-super-Mare are to be refurbished as part of North Somerset Council's 15-year replacement programme.

The work will take five days at each crossing and will involve replacement of the traffic signal controller, poles and cabling.

Works are due to start in Nailsea on Monday 21 February, at Queensway / Vicarage Close on Monday 28 February and at Queensway / Hogarth Walk on Monday 7 March.

"Temporary signals will be in place to allow pedestrians to cross the road safely while these works are in progress," said Cllr Mike Solomon, the council's executive member for neighbourhoods and community services. "We will endeavour to keep any disruption to a minimum."

The works are being carried out by Dynniq, the council's maintenance contractor for traffic signals, at a total cost of £75,000.
