Maintenance work will be carried out over three nights from Monday 27 June along the A370 at Somerset Avenue in Weston-super-Mare. The work will take place after the evening rush hour to minimise inconvenience to road users. The work will include street lighting maintenance, minor vegetation clearance and mechanical sweeping of the drainage channels.

Between 7pm and 2am on Monday 27, Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 June the central lanes in both directions and on the associated roundabouts will be temporarily closed to allow the work to be carried out safely. There will be no full road closures to avoid travel disruption.

The stretches of road affected are:

  • Monday 27 June: from Hutton Moor roundabout to the Airport roundabout
  • Tuesday 28 June: from the Airport roundabout to West Wick roundabout
  • Wednesday 29 June: from West Wick Roundabout towards junction 21, but not including the motorway roundabout.

Cllr Steve Hogg, North Somerset Council's executive member for transport and highways said: "This is a busy stretch of road, so work is being completed outside peak travel times to avoid disruption to road users. The temporary lane closures will enable our contractors to work safely and their work will ensure a good standard of maintenance benefitting road users."

The work is being carried out by North Somerset Council's contractors Centregreat and Glendale.
