An independent review regarding the recent active travel changes for Hill Road and The Beach in Clevedon will get under way next week. Led by transport design and engineering experts AECOM, the review will address concerns that have been raised by local people and businesses. These include the design and safety of the scheme, access for disabled people, and those living adjacent to the scheme and whether users understand the new arrangements. It will also look at any impacts on trade and parking.

These include the design and safety of the scheme, access for disabled people, and those living adjacent to the scheme and whether users understand the new arrangements. Vicky Presland, who is leading the review for AECOM, said: "Having spent time in the town over the last few weeks and listening to local residents at the two public meetings, the AECOM team are looking forward to the next stage of the review where we will be encouraging everyone in the local community to get involved and share their views.”

There will be plenty of opportunities for people to contribute to the process so their experiences of the scheme can inform the review's recommendations.

As well as an online survey that will be open for the duration of the review there will also be a public drop-in event on Wednesday 6 September between 11am and 8pm at Clevedon Community Centre and a series of focus groups for special interest groups. Information about the review will also be sent directly to properties on Hill Road, The Beach and surrounding roads.

For anyone unable to complete the survey online, printed copies will be available throughout the six weeks at Clevedon Library and also by post from 01934 888 802. The survey can also be provided in other formats on request.

The review begins at 10am on Monday 14 August and will run for six weeks until Monday 25 September. Once the review has ended, AECOM will prepare a report to present to North Somerset Council which will set out recommendations. There will also be a further public meeting in the town in late October for local people to hear about the review's conclusions.

The decisions then made about the future of the scheme will be considered at a meeting of the council's Executive which will be open to the public.
