Weston-super-Mare Resident Parking Scheme pilot

Parking permits for the on-street parking scheme Weston-super-Mare will soon be available for purchase. Links to the purchase forms will go live on this page in February 2026. 

To purchase a permit, you will need to have these items available: 

  • your council tax reference number
  • vehicle registration number
  • credit or debit card.

The parking scheme is designed to help residents, commuters and other vehicles share available parking more fairly, while also making the roads safer and the air cleaner.

Types of permits

Type D

Type D allows residents to park in resident parking bays on street within the scheme.

Cost is £60 per year. 

These are restricted to one per household. 

Type E

Type E allows residents to park in resident parking bays on street within the scheme or in Locking Road long stay car park.

Cost is £150 per year. 

Type F

Type F allows residents to park in Locking Road long stay car park.

The cost is £90 per year. 

There is restriction on the number of permits available. 

Please note, permits are limited to one Type D or Type E permit per household.

If Locking Road car park is closed for large events - such as Weston Carnival - parking will be restricted even with a permit.

Visitor permits

Resident permit holders can add visitor permits to their electronic MiPermit account. Visitor permits allow visitors to use bays within a chosen resident permit.

Visitor permits are limited to the following:

  • 250 hours maximum unless;
  • you are a resident requiring regular visits by a carer, then you can add an additional 250 hours. 

Cost

The first 250 hours costs £25 and is valid for three years from the date of purchase. The same cost applies to the additional 250 hours for carers. 

For example, a total of 500 hours (including carer hours) would be a cost of £50.

Business and customer permits

Business and customer permits are available to allow on street parking within the residents parking scheme. 

Please note:

  • You can purchase a maximum of five permits
  • Business permits are for operational vehicles insured for business use.
    • You can have one vehicle on each permit so you can swap the permit between the vehicles. It will only cover one vehicle at a time.
  • Customer permits can be used by any vehicle. 

Cost

Any combination of business and customer permit can be purchased at a cost of £200 per year.

Terms and condition of use

  1. Residents only parking bays will operate Monday to Saturday 8am to 7pm, including all bank holidays (except Christmas Day and Boxing Day)
  2. Residents, businesses, customers, visitors and carer permits enable permit holders to park for unrestricted periods during parking scheme’s hours of operation, without additional charge when using parking bays designated ‘permit holders only’.
  3. Parking bays may be suspended temporarily as required
  4. Abuse of the permit system may result in the cancellation of permits with no refund.
