Portishead Lake Grounds

This consultation is now closed and here is the report.

The original text describing the consultation is left, below, for the record.

We want the Lake Grounds to be a regionally-renowned park which is attractive, fun, safe and rich in biodiversity – somewhere that visitors of all ages can enjoy and be proud of.

The park is much loved and enjoyed by a large number of people who use the area for many different purposes.

We’re intending to invest significant money there and want to make sure that it’s spent to improve the park in ways that the community wants.

Please share your hopes for the park with us so we can use the community’s view when prioritising the spend.

  • What are your priorities for the announced investment?
  • What else would you like to see?
  • Your views on how we best put the Lake Grounds put on a firm financial footing for the future?*

Thank you for taking part.

*Because we as a council have to abide by government rules and fund 'mandatory' services such as adult social care, children’s services, waste and recycling before funding what are deemed 'discretionary' services like parks there is just not the money available for year on year improvements.

What are we consulting and engaging on?

We want to ask residents and visitors

  • How and when you use the Lake Grounds
  • Whether you agree with the proposed vision and aims
  • What you like and don’t like in the Lake Grounds
  • What you think needs investment
  • What you think about community involvement and volunteering
  • Which income generating ideas you would support

Further consultation on specific proposals may follow later – for example where planning permission is required or if charges are proposed.
