Great Weston Conservation Area consultation

All these materials are designed to be accessible. If you need them in another format, contact Cara Macmahon by phone on 01934 426 825 or by email at cara.macmahon@n-somerset.gov.uk.

Overall objectives of the consultation phase:

  • To communicate the proposed change in the designation – with a move to one large single conservation area with four character areas, and extending the area covered to include the town centre.
  • To gain a common understanding of the role of this conservation area designation and that protecting and enhancing Weston’s heritage assets opens up opportunities and a bright future for the town.
  • To get input and views on the draft appraisals, in particular on what they think the defining features and qualities of the conservation area and character areas are and what issues are priorities.
  • To allow stakeholders to steer the emerging management plans and highlight the priorities for action.

The online consultation presents an open opportunity for anyone to comment on the work to date.  As the documents are draft appraisals and do not yet include the management plans it is the perfect time for stakeholders to shape the priorities emerging and to steer the management plans as they emerge.

The Conservation Area Appraisal (CAA) is split into 5 documents, you  can choose which documents you wish to comment on.  You  can just comment on  the Introduction document, and, if are keen to comment in more detail, you can comment on one or more of the character appraisal documents.
