Joint North Somerset Physical Activity Strategy

We want North Somerset to be a place where everyone has the opportunity to be physically active and move more whether that’s through everyday activity or participation in formal sports and fitness groups or classes.

We want to create opportunities to increase physical activity levels for all residents and communities supporting physical and mental health and reducing inequalities in health, connecting and strengthening our communities and the local economy.

We are developing a joint Physical Activity Strategy which will outline our priorities and plans for improving physical activity provision and opportunities.

We are not routinely accepting responses by other methods (e.g. post, phone). However, if you require the information or questionnaire in another format, call us on 01275 882730 or email  getactive@n-somerset.gov.uk

Residents consultation: We want you to get involved and to use this consultation to tell us:

  • how active you currently are
  • how important being physically active is to you
  • if you do take part in physical activity which activities you currently take part in, where and when, whether you take part alone or with others and your reasons for participating
  • about any barriers that prevent you from participating

Providers Consultation: In addition to our residents consultation there is also targeted consultation to gain feedback from:

  • local stakeholders
  • physical activity providers/organisations (this could be anything from a formal sports club or an informal fitness group)
  • schools
  • town and parish councils

We will use the information collected from the residents and organisations consultations to identify themes that will help shape the Physical Activity Strategy for North Somerset.

Tell us what you think!

We invite you to complete our consultation to share your views.

The residents consultation will focus on general questions about physical activity. There are also more specific questions about the lifestyle factors that influence physical activity levels.  You don’t need to answer every section if you don’t feel it is relevant to you but we welcome your thoughts across all topics.  The physical activity providers consultation should be completed by one representative on behalf of the organisation.

The consultation is anonymous and the information you provide will not be used to identify you. Completing the survey is optional. The information that you provide is confidential and will only be used to inform development of the Physical Activity Strategy.

This consultation opened on Monday 26th September 2022 at 14:00 and will close on Friday 28th October 2022 at 14:00. It will take a few minutes to complete.

We also want to know if you have specific ideas or general comments that could be useful to increasing physical activity levels across North Somerset.

Why should I take part?

We would like to hear from as many people as possible across North Somerset so that our priorities and plans reflect what is most important to you.

Do I have to take part now?

The survey will be open until Friday 28th October 2022, after this the survey will be closed and you will not be able to take part.

Do I have to take part?

No. It’s voluntary to take part in the survey. We are welcoming views from everyone who lives in North Somerset. We want to hear from you if you would like to contribute to shaping plans for physical activity.
