North Somerset Council has launched a rural capital grant programme today (Monday 19 June) that is open for applications from both businesses and community groups located in an eligible rural area to help improve productivity, connectivity and boost prosperity.

North Somerset Council has launched a consultation today (Monday 5 June) and is inviting residents, businesses and community groups to give their views on existing, and proposed changes to, Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs).

The Leader of North Somerset Council is calling for action to ensure the future of Weston-super-Mare's iconic Odeon cinema building, following news earlier this month of its imminent closure. The cinema's operators have announced their intention to close the cinema next month, prompting fears that the Grade II listed 1930s art deco building may fall into disrepair. The building is also one of only two remaining commercially operated cinemas in the country with an original working Compton organ.

A new service connecting Clevedon, Weston-in-Gordano, Portishead and Cribbs Causeway is to launch this summer. Starting Monday 5 June, the X10 will offer six trips a day (three round trips) Monday to Friday and eight trips (four round trips) on a Saturday.
