Two weeks left to register for popular solar panel scheme

There’s still time to register for Solar Together, the innovative solar panel group-buying scheme which has returned to help North Somerset residents generate clean, local, renewable energy to power their home.

North Somerset Council is once again working with partners the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) and independent group-buying collective iChoosr Ltd on the second round of Solar Together.

This popular scheme uses the collective bargaining power of many local households, businesses and community groups, to purchase high quality solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and batteries, and their installation, at a very competitive price.

The first round of Solar Together ran in 2021 and resulted in 3,000 solar panels being installed at properties across North Somerset. Feedback from previous Solar Together customers praised the hassle-free process, trustworthy pre-approved contractors and high quality of installation, which was at a far more affordable price compared to buying direct.

Cllr Annemieke Waite, executive member for climate, said: “We are committed to making North Somerset a thriving and sustainable place to live by tackling the climate emergency.

“A key component of our ambition to reduce emissions and reach net zero by 2030 is to improve access to renewable energy. The more households, businesses and community groups that participate in Solar Together, the better the price we can secure, plus more renewable energy will be generated.

“If you’ve been thinking about getting solar panels, registration for Solar Together is free, with no obligation to buy.”

So far almost 1,800 registrations have been received for round two of Solar Together. Anyone who already has solar panels installed can also register to have battery storage added to their existing set-up to maximise the benefits of their system.

To register or find out more go to www.n-somerset.gov.uk/solartogether or call 0800 014 8851 before the closing date of Friday 27 October.
