A winner has been chosen for Weston’s Father Christmas trail that took part at the end of last year.

The ten specially decorated Santa’s were displayed in 10 secret locations in the town centre. Families were able to take part and fill out trail cards with the chance of winning the top prize – a £200 shopping spree.

Daniel, 7-year-old student from Kewstoke Primary School, won the best Santa design winning two tablets for his school.

Sarah Harding, Head Teacher at Kewstoke Primary School, said: “We were delighted to be part of the Santa trail, all of the children took part and we're proud of Daniel’s design. Thank you to everyone who voted for our school and who took part in the Santa trail. We are excited to have won and will make sure everyone at school gets to share in the prize of the two tablets.”

The trail brought additional footfall to the town centre, which saw businesses display the Santa’s in their windows.

Cllr Mark Canniford, Executive Member for Placemaking and Economy, at North Somerset Council, said: “This trail was a fun activity for families to take part in, whilst discovering the different businesses we have in the town centre. I’m delighted it went to so well and encouraged more people to shop locally during the festive season.”

Rachel Griffin, Manager of Roman Fashion based in The Sovereign, said: “The Santa trail was fantastic, it brought us much attention and footfall and it was great fun to be involved with.”

Jon Walton, Centre Manager of The Sovereign, said: “I was stunned by amazing designs created by our wonderfully talented local schools, and I thank them so much for all their hard work.”
