As non-essential organisations look to re-open their doors on Monday 12 April, a group of independent shops and eateries are to be showcased as part of a large re-opening campaign in Weston town centre by North Somerset Council.

The 'welcome back to your high street' campaign will see independent businesses show off their Superweston W’s with pride, highlighting what they can offer to customers and why the town centre is a thriving place to visit.

The Superweston ‘W’ images were taken by local photographer Paul Blakemore and designed by local creative Studio Monty. There will also be a film by local award-winning filmmaker, Sally Low, who visited businesses within the town, showing their preparation for the re-opening on the 12th April.

Cllr Mark Canniford, Executive Member for Business, Economy and Employment at North Somerset Council, said: “It’s fantastic to see how many local businesses have diversified during this winter lockdown and it’s time to show that there’s still plenty to enjoy in the town centre and that our independent offering is stronger than ever.”

We want to celebrate the businesses that have continued to meet the community’s needs as we focus on recovery, with Weston continuing to be a prosperous place to live, work and enjoy.”

The 'welcome back to your high street' campaign can be followed on Instagram and Facebook: @Superweston.

The campaign is part of the towns ten year Placemaking Strategy which includes a set of themes and ambitions for the town around wellbeing, recreation, being green, low carbon, a great place to live work and study and helping the local economy adjust to the fundamental changes accelerated by coronavirus.

The campaign has been fully funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
