Weston seafront industry event

Weston-super-Mare’s seafront will host a one-day private industry event next week.

The event on Wednesday 13 February will test safety equipment. The organisers needed a length of road to carry out vehicle and equipment demonstrations and the seafront fitted their brief.

Marine Parade and the stretch of beach between Royal Sands and Carlton Street will be closed to vehicles from 7.30pm on Tuesday 12 February until 7.30am on Thursday 14 February. Pedestrians will still be able to access these areas, apart from the promenade between Royal Sands and the Seaquarium from 2pm until 10pm on the day of the event.

There will be signage in place and event staff on hand to make sure people can continue to enjoy the wider area safely.

The Seaquarium will be open as usual to pedestrians. The Bay Café at the Tropicana and the prom refreshment kiosk opposite the junction with Clifton Road will be closed to the public all day.

At 7.30pm the promenade lights along Marine Parade will be turned off completely to enable the equipment demonstrations to take place in darkness.
