Reaper Bar wired for sound
North Somerset Council is excited to announce the opening of a new live music venue “The Reaper Bar” at the Tropicana on Weston-super-Mare’s seafront.
The name derives from the location of Banksy’s Grim Reaper exhibit that formed part of Dismaland in 2015.
The council is now working with the organisers of the successful Hazy Days Festival to bring six nights of live music initially, featuring artists from across the South West.
The first series of events will take place once a month with a view to increasing this and attracting larger touring acts over time.
Cllr Felicity Baker, executive member for tourism said: “We are keen to establish the Reaper Bar as a premium event space as part of the future redevelopment of the Tropicana venue as an entertainment and cultural venue. The first Hazy Days event was a huge success at the Tropicana in the summer and it will be great to see more music-based events going on there over the coming months.”
The first evening takes place on Saturday 1 October with headliners Bless’ed Roots – a nine piece reggae/rock band with support from The Marginal and David 9 Lunas.
Entry is free with doors opening at 7pm.
