Opening of new play area in Portishead
A new play area at Paper Mill Gardens in Portishead will be officially opened on Monday 11 February after being handed over to North Somerset Council by the site’s developer Taylor Wimpey.
The council has worked with Taylor Wimpey’s designer on the layout and content of the play area to meet the needs of local children.
The site provides a wide range of equipment for swinging, sliding, balancing and climbing, as well as an in-ground trampoline, an exciting addition to the range of play equipment on offer. Seating has also been provided within the play space.
The play area sits in a fenced and landscaped central open space which provides a focal point for the new development. It is overlooked by neighbouring houses, a valuable safety aspect for parents of young children.
Phase two of the residential development allowed for the expansion of the original scheme with further grassed open space, more planting and the addition of a picnic table.
Cllr Peter Bryant, North Somerset Council’s executive member for parks and green spaces, said: “I am delighted to see the completion of this play area for local children living on or near this development. It’s good to see such a well-planned and safe environment within the heart of this scheme and I hope it is enjoyed by all.”
