National Get Online Week runs from Monday 19 October to Sunday 25 October.
This year has shown us just how much of a difference the internet can make to our lives. The pandemic has proved that the internet is a key utility for everyday life and knowing how to use it is an essential skill.
But too many people are still being left behind without the skills or access they need to benefit from being online. Nine million people in the UK can’t use the internet or their device without help and 4.7 million don’t have any digital skills at all.
North Somerset libraries have computers available for pre-booked 45-minute sessions to get online and learn digital skills like video calling and job hunting online using the free Learnmyway resources.
To inspire people to try the free virtual library services there will be an online demonstration of eBooks, eMagazines and Family History resources on Thursday 22 October at 1pm. Book on Eventbrite at http://n-somersetlibraries.eventbrite.com/.
