Mobile testing unit comes to Weston

1:31pm - 26 May 2020

A temporary mobile testing unit has been set-up in Weston-super-Mare today at Locking Road car park in support of the COVID-19 National Testing Programme.

Updated Thursday 28 May to reflect change in testing eligibility – now anyone with symptoms can be tested, including under fives.

The unit is operated by military personnel and is available for pre-booked coronavirus tests only. It is likely to be in the car park for several days and the car park will not be available for public parking during this time.

The unit will operate from 10am until 4pm each day and appointments can be made through the GOV.UK website or by calling 119.

The eligibility criteria for tests has been extended to include:

  • anyone with symptoms
  • any essential worker with symptoms
  • members of the household of essential workers who are symptomatic.

More guidance can be found on the GOV.UK website - how to get tested for coronavirus

Essential workers will be given priority.

For tests to be effective you must be symptomatic. Visit the NHS website to read more on the symptoms of COVID-19.
