Major improvements to key Nailsea route
A £300,000 scheme to improve Stock Way North in Nailsea will start on Monday 10 June.
The work, which will involve resurfacing, sign replacement and kerbing and footpath repairs, will be carried out in three phases.
The aim of the project is to prolong the life of this important route.
To minimise disruption, the work will be carried out using a night closure between 8pm and 6am. Traffic marshals will be on site to provide advice on access arrangements for residents.
The scheme will be completed in the following phases:
- Phase One – Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 June. Resurfacing work from the junction of Stock Way South to the junction of Clevedon Road (B3130)
- Phase Two – Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 June. Resurfacing work from the junction with Clevedon Road (B3130) to the junction with High Street
- Phase Three – Friday 14 to Tuesday 18 June. Resurfacing work from the junction of Stock Way North to the junction of Lodge Lane.
North Somerset Council’s executive member with responsibility for highways, Cllr James Tonkin, said: “This is a key route in Nailsea and these improvements will prolong the life of this road and footway for years to come.
“We would urge people to be patient while these essential works are completed.”
The scheme is part of the council’s ongoing maintenance programme of its 1,100km network.
