Local history month celebrated in libraries

North Somerset libraries are celebrating Local History month with a variety of displays during May.

Nailsea Library has Nailsea’s Nuggets- a selection of interesting items from their collection.

In Portishead, the library has a free family history research workshop on Saturday 18 May from 10am to 11.15am and a display about the training ship TS Formidable and the former Nautical School.

In Clevedon, the library has a display about Weston, Clevedon and Portishead Light Railway.

And Yatton Library has a local history display with a travel theme.

The For All Healthy Living Centre library in Weston has Bournville Memories and a session on adding to the Know Your Place website. This will take place on Thursday 16 May at 10.30am.

Winscombe Library has a small display on the history of the local railway and a Know Your Place website session on Thursday 16 May at 1.30pm.

Weston Library’s theme is growing up and includes a display featuring evacuees, schools, Punch and Judy, Scouts and some images from the Marks and Spencer archive.
