A self-service swipe card system called Extended Access was introduced by North Somerset Council at Portishead, Winscombe, Worle and Yatton libraries last year.
Library members who sign up to the scheme can use these libraries during unstaffed hours, either earlier in the mornings, in the evenings or for additional hours at weekends.
The new system has proved extremely popular with more than 800 people signed up at Portishead alone.
In response to customer feedback, from 6 January Sunday hours at the four libraries are now being extended to 8am-8pm, an increase of six hours on the previous Sunday times.
A short induction session will enable you to access your chosen library to borrow and return books, and use the computers and photocopying facilities at a time more suited to you.
“We have had a lot of positive feedback about Extended Access,” said Cllr Felicity Baker, the council’s executive member responsible for the library service. “Convenience is so important to today’s users and increasing the hours on a Sunday will give them even greater flexibility in how and when they use the library.”
To book an induction go to www.eventbrite.co.uk and search by name of library or pop into the library and ask a member of staff.
