Essential services still being delivered
Essential services are still being provided by North Somerset Council during the coronavirus pandemic.
Key services such as social care, community meals, waste and recycling and highway maintenance are still operating in these challenging times.
The council has been forced to close many services but the protection of the most vulnerable members of the community continues to remain a priority.
The Leader of North Somerset Council, Cllr Don Davies said he was proud of the commitment shown by council officers in these unprecedented times.
“Our staff are ensuring that vital services continue to run during the pandemic. They are following Government guidelines with regards to social distancing but are still getting the job done. Whether it is supporting looked after children, delivering community meals, clearing gullies to prevent flooding or collecting our recycling and rubbish – they are working hard to deliver the essentials.
“Most of our residents are grateful for the efforts of these staff in challenging times but there have been a few incidents where staff have received abuse for still being at work. I would urge all our residents to be assured that our staff will continue to carry out essential services while protecting themselves and our community from this dreadful virus.
“Please support them in these challenging times.”
