Essential roadworks in Congresbury
A £35,000 scheme to improve High Street and Brinsea Road (B3133) in Congresbury will start on Monday 10 February.
The works, which will involve new lining, ironwork repairs, vegetation removal, signage cleaning and gully emptying/maintenance, will be completed using a road closure at night.
To minimise disruption for the majority of road users, the works will take place between 8pm and 6am for up to five nights.
The road will be closed from the junction with Bristol Road (A370) through to its junction with Venus Street.
At the same time, temporary traffic signals and a lane closure will be in place on the A370 between Station Road and Tesco Express to allow for the work on the junction to be completed safely.
Cllr James Tonkin, North Somerset Council’s executive member with responsibility for roads said the night closure was being used to minimise disruption.
“We appreciate that this is a busy route between the A370 and A38 but we need to complete these essential works. As a result we are using a night closure between 8pm and 6am to minimise disruption. We would urge people to be patient while these essential works are completed.”
The official diversion route will be for traffic to use the A370 towards Bristol, the new A4174 (South Bristol link), A38 towards Churchill and vice versa.
