Council wins prestigious award
A North Somerset Council building project has won ‘most considerate site’ at the auspicious Considerate Constructors National Site Awards.
The award was received for the Hutton C of E Primary School scheme in the project category of £1m-£5m, carried out by John Perkins Construction Ltd.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme’s National Site Awards are one of the most revered industry accolades, recognising scheme-registered sites that have demonstrated the very highest levels of consideration in respect of the community, environment and workforce.
The project involved creating a new building of six classrooms to replace the outside Elliott-style buildings, carrying out refurbishment work as well as creating a new play area on land the council purchased from a neighbour.
Considerate Constructors Scheme Chief Executive, Edward Hardy said: “Receiving a Most Considerate Site Award is a monumental achievement. This top level of industry recognition reflects how much effort and commitment award-winning sites have made to push their standards, and those of the industry, to even higher levels.
“These awards recognise sites which are at the forefront of industry best practice and we thank them, and all sites and companies registered with the Scheme, for their continued commitment to improving the performance, image and reputation of our industry.”
Rob Yeandle, Managing Director of John Perkins Construction, said: “This award is a real testament to how much can be achieved by working collaboratively. Willmott Dixon and North Somerset Council were fantastic partners during this project. I’m very proud of the whole team.
“It’s a great honour to win the Most Considerate Site accolade and know that we’re part of the push to improve the image of the construction industry.”
And North Somerset Council’s executive member whose portfolio includes asset management, Cllr David Pasley, added: “We are particularly pleased to be associated with this prestigious award. Our property and asset management team has championed the Considerate Constructors Scheme by requiring all contracts to be registered, with our project managers aiming to attend all the CCS monitors’ site visits and to support the contractors’ site managers.
“The Hutton C of E Primary School project exemplifies the hard work put in by all parties and rightly deserves recognition. To have received the National Award is the pinnacle of achievement for all those involved.”
