North Somerset residents who want help to lead a healthier lifestyle are being encouraged to use a new website.

The Better Health North Somerset website – at www.betterhealthns.co.uk - has been launched by North Somerset Council’s public health team.

The site is full of useful information and articles to help people lose weight, eat well, stop smoking, get more active or find groups and classes in North Somerset.

There is also information about drinking less alcohol, mental health and wellbeing, sexual health and family health matters including baby, toddler, pregnancy and breastfeeding support.

Better Health North Somerset is one of many projects being delivered as part of North Somerset Council's Health and Wellbeing Strategy. The work of the council public health team on the strategy has recently been recognised by two national award nominations.

Cllr Mike Bell, Deputy Leader of North Somerset Council and Executive Member with responsibility for public health, said: “Whether you’re looking to get more active, eat a healthier diet, want help to quit smoking or are looking for information about other health matters, the new Better Health North Somerset website is a great place to start.

“It covers a wide range of topics for people of all ages. Each section has a mixture of information, support, latest news and stories from North Somerset residents who have made changes to live healthier lifestyles, with help from our brilliant public health team.

“You can also follow Better Health North Somerset on social media – look for @BetterHealth_NS on Twitter and @BetterHealthNS on Facebook.”
