A370 improvement works

A £280,000 scheme to improve the A370 between Congresbury and Weston will continue on Tuesday 7 September with a road closure between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

The work, known as surface dressing, will improve the surface of the carriageway. Surface dressing is undertaken by North Somerset Council as a major part of its ongoing, low-cost annual maintenance programme.

In order to complete the scheme, road markings will be reinstated from Wednesday 15 September over five nights. The road will be closed between 8pm and 5am on week nights only.

Cllr Mike Solomon, the council's executive member for neighbourhoods and community services, asked people to be patient during the works.

"This is a very busy route that gets a great amount of wear every year," he said. "This scheme will improve the surface of the road for the benefit of all road users.

"We have avoided completing the works during the busy summer period but still need to finish the scheme during warm weather so the bitumen and loose chippings bond to the road surface. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Surface dressing is largely weather dependent so the date may be subject to change. You can keep up-to-date with how the works are progressing on our social media pages North Somerset Travel and Roads.
