Support and advice

When you become a carer tell your doctor that you looking after someone else. It is important you talk to them about your own health needs as caring can be emotionally and physically demanding. Your doctor will keep a record of registered carers so they can offer advice and support.

When someone you look after is in hospital it can be a very worrying and stressful time. It is important that you share information with the hospital so they understand your role and how you can support a patients recovery.

There are several support organisations for carers who can offer advice, information, practical and emotional support. They can also put you in touch with other carers who will understand your situation.
