Older people's housing
Housing for older people
There are many housing options available to older people. If you’re not sure what would be best for you, you can complete a short survey on the Housing Options for Older People website.
Extra care housing
Extra-care housing offers more care and support to people than sheltered housing. People live in their own flat on a specially developed site, with a 24-hour professional care presence, enabling privacy and independence in a safe environment.
Strawberry Gardens is a new extra-care housing scheme opening in Yatton in spring 2020. The waiting list opens on Monday 1 July.
You can find out about eligibility and how to apply for Strawberry Gardens and other extra-care housing schemes on the North Somerset Online Directory website.
Sheltered housing is designed to cater for retired and older people and create a community to promote friendship and a feeling of security. It is usually a one or two-bedroom flat or bungalow, with its own front door, in a block or group of similar properties Some sheltered housing properties will share communal facilities such as a lounge‚ laundry and garden.
