Allocated school places for September 2020

Coronavirus update – national offer day – 16 April 2020

If you applied for a school place online and didn’t opt out of receiving an email response, you will receive an email with your child’s school place offer on Thursday 16 April. If you applied online, you can also log in to find out your school place offer.  If you opted out of getting an email, your offer letter will be sent out on Thursday 16 April by second class post.

We’ve got limited access to incoming phone calls and are unable to pick up answerphone messages. Before you contact us, check if your query can be answered in the information on  this page.

If this page does not answer your query, please email and include the name and date of birth of the child, your phone number and a clear explanation of your query. You will receive an auto-response email acknowledging we have received your email. If we are able to call you back, it will be from a withheld number. We will also only be able to speak to the person with parental responsibility who made the application.

We appreciate that this can be a difficult time for people who have not been offered the school place that they wanted. Please be assured that we will respond to your query as soon as we can.

For reception place offers, we will only be able to provide information about a particular application if the email address used to contact us matches the one used on the application form.

If you do not have access to email, you can call 01275 884 078, but please only phone if you have an urgent question and no access to email. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

If you applied by post, we will post you a letter on the national offer day. This will be sent second class so may take a few days to get to you.

Accepting your school place

If you are happy with your allocated school place, you will need to accept it. Before you do this, you will need to read the statement of options.

If you applied online you can accept it through the Citizens Portal. If you applied by post you can accept it by filling in the response form, which will be included with your outcome letter, and sending it back to us.

Appealing your school place

If you do not get the school place you want, the place that has been offered will be reserved and you can request that your child’s name is put on a waiting list for your preferred school or you can appeal.

You can also withdraw your application and make a new one with new school preferences. The offered school place would then be withdrawn. You will find more information in the above statement of options.

If you have applied online, you can request to go on the waiting list and/or appeal through the Citizens Portal. If you applied by post, you will need to fill in Section B of the response form, which will be included in your outcome letter, and send it back to us.

If you want to appeal, you should read the appeal procedure which you can find on our appeals page.
