Climate change is a global issue likely to have a significant impact on the quality of life in our district.
We help residents, businesses and stakeholders take action on climate change and have signed the Local Government Association’s climate local commitment. The Council has recently adopted the carbon reduction target of a 50% reduction in emissions by 2050, details of which can be viewed in the Climate Local Commitment 2018.
We have worked with the other local authorities in the West of England to assess the viability of zero carbon development at strategic development locations and in all new building types.
Along with our West of England colleagues we have also commissioned evidence to support responses to the Future Homes Standard consultation.
We have worked with North Somerset Partnership organisations to identify the potential risks and opportunities presented by a changing climate in North Somerset.
