Congresbury Neighbourhood Plan
The Plan has been prepared by Congresbury Parish Council, with help from the local community. The plan will help to shape the parish in forthcoming years and will be used to help make decisions on planning applications within the parish. The plan proposes allocating land for housing and employment, aims to protect local green spaces, valued countryside and community facilities, proposes improvements to cycle routes and highways and aims to protect and enhance the historic environment.
The neighbourhood plan area covers the whole of Congresbury Parish. Consultation on the draft Neighbourhood Plan took place between 30 July and 17 September 2018. Following this consultation further amendments were made to the plan by the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group and the Congresbury Neighbourhood Development Plan was formally submitted to the Council on 17 December 2018. Consultation took place on the submitted Congresbury Neighbourhood Plan from 14 January to 6 March 2019 in accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning Regulation (General) 2012.
On 19 March North Somerset Council’s Executive agreed that the Plan should proceed to examination. Examination of the plan began on 8 April 2019. and the Examiners report was received on 10 June 2019. The Examiner has stated that modifications are necessary to the Plan in order for it to meet the relevant basic conditions. The Plan and Examiners report will go before Executive on 25 June and if the Examiners modifications are accepted then a referendum will be arranged.
