Planning application reference number and consultation

Each application is given a unique reference number.

The first two digits show the year an application was sent. This is followed by a ‘P’ to show it is about planning. There are then four numbers which are unique to the application and are produced sequentially (the higher the number the more recent an application). At the end there is a suffix which shows which type of planning application it is.

Not every application needs consultation to take place and different applications also have different target timescales for us to make our decision.
