Portishead rail services
About Portishead rail services
We are working with the other West of England councils on proposals for an ambitious programme of rail improvements over the next 10 years.
Plans to re-open the Portishead rail line passenger train services are part of the MetroWest Phase 1 project. This also includes proposals for half-hourly train services for the Portishead and Severn Beach lines and local stations between Bristol Temple Meads and Bath Spa.
The total capital cost of the project cost is estimated at £58m, and is expected to be funded by grants from the Department for Transport, the Local Growth Fund and contributions from councils.
