Transforming Cities Fund

The Transforming Cities Fund is a central Government fund that transport and highway authorities can bid for. It aims to improve intra-city transport provision with a particular emphasis on improving public transport.

We are working with Gloucestershire County and Wiltshire councils in collaboration with the West of England Combined Authority on a funding bid.

The bid process entails an initial expression of interest stage, where successful bidders will be asked to develop their initial proposals into detailed proposals through a business case stage.

This fund is one of a number of funding options being explored to secure the remaining funding to deliver the MetroWest Phase 1 project, including the re-opening of the Portishead rail line for passenger train services. Our proposals through the fund also include improvements to the A38/A370 Weston-super-Mare to Bristol corridor.

The expression of interest was submitted to central Government on 7 June 2018.

We are now awaiting the outcome of our expression of interest and we will update this webpage with further information, as soon as it becomes available.
