People who are sleeping rough

Anyone concerned about a rough sleeper should contact StreetLink, the national rough sleeping helpline, which alerts local services on 0300 500 0914.

We work in partnership with the YMCA to provide outreach support to all rough sleepers in North Somerset. This also includes working with people who are staying in the Weston Night Assessment Centre to help them move on.

There are lots of agencies in North Somerset who provide help and services to people who are sleeping rough including day centres, daily meals, medical help and outreach support. Details of all these organisations can be found on the Key Steps website.

Severe weather

During spells of particularly cold weather the severe weather emergency protocol (SWEP) is activated. This means all rough sleepers are offered emergency accommodation at the Night Assessment Centre.

Homeless people who are not rough sleeping

Most single homeless people are not sleeping rough but are ‘sofa surfing’ and staying between family and friends. We provide help and advice and provide accommodation to those who are particularly vulnerable.
