Local restrictions support grant

Below you will find two versions of the Local Restrictions Support Grant:

  • closed
  • open

Closed refers to businesses that are mandated to close by law.

Open refers to businesses in Tier 2 or 3 that have:

  • continued to trade
  • experienced a significant loss of business
  • are not mandated to close by law.

You can apply if your business has been affected since the start of November, and if you meet the below requirements.

Local Restrictions Support Grant Closed (Addendum) - Statutory Scheme

This scheme is for the national lockdown dating from 5 November to 1 December 2020.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements: 

  • you are liable for business rates
  • you were mandated to close during the restriction period

You are not eligible for this scheme if you: 

  • were not mandated to close 
  • were operating as a takeaway or click and collect service pre-COVID
  • are not liable for business rates

However, if you are ineligible you may be able to claim a grant against other schemes, such as the Additional Restriction Grant (ARG) where the business has suffered a significant loss in turnover. 

Property rateable value cash payment (per 28 day qualifying restriction period)
£15,000 or under £1,334
£15,001 to £50,999  £2,000
£51,000 or more £3,000
 

How to apply

  • if you have previously been awarded an LRSG (Closed) grant we will automatically pay you the new grant
    • we will notify you in writing before this payment is made
  • you can make a new application for the LRSG Closed (Addendum) online through the form below
    • please have your business rates reference number available
  • you will need to answer questions to verify that your business is eligible, provide some information and upload a recent bank statement.

Closed Business January Lockdown Support Package - Statutory Scheme

This scheme covers the national lockdown starting on 5 January 2021 (for an initial 6 week period until 15th February 2021).

The deadline for this scheme closes on 31 March 2021

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements: 

  • you are liable for business rates
  • you were mandated to close during the restriction period

You are not eligible for this scheme if you: 

  • were not mandated to close 
  • were operating as a takeaway or click and collect service pre-COVID
  • are not liable for business rates

However, if you are ineligible you may be able to claim a grant against other schemes, such as the Additional Restriction Grant (ARG) where the business has suffered a significant loss in turnover.

How to apply

  • if you have previously been awarded an LRSG (Closed) grant we will automatically pay you the new grant

    • please have your business rates reference number available
  • you will need to answer questions to verify that your business is eligible, provide some information and upload a recent bank statement.

Local Restrictions Support Grant (Open)

The LRSG (Open) scheme is for businesses that have:

  • been severely impacted by the local restrictions that came into force on Thursday 3 December and;
  • are not required to close
  • were open as usual on the day before national restrictions came into effect (before Thursday 5 November)

If you meet these initial requirements, one or more of the following will also need to apply:

  • you do not pay business rates on the business you trade from, occupy, and are not required to close
  • your business was not required to close, but had to due to a significant impact on trading
  • your business is still operating, but with a significant reduction in demand due to social distancing rules

What you will get

The grants will be based on the rateable value of the property as it was on Thursday 5 November. They will be paid on a rolling basis for each two-week period of restriction.

The values apply only to eligible businesses and are as follows:

£15,001 to £50,999 £700
£51,000 or more £1,050

How to apply

You can apply for the Local Restriction Support Grant (Open) online by clicking the button below. You will need your business rates reference number to apply, which you can find on your bill.

You’ll need to answer questions to verify that your business is eligible, provide some information and upload a recent bank statement.

If you have more than one business property, you will need to complete a separate application for each of them.
