Five ways to wellbeing

Our five ways to wellbeing leaflet suggests five things you can do each day to improve your overall happiness and wellbeing. The leaflet gives some examples of how you can practice the five ways to wellbeing:

  • connect
  • be active
  • take notice
  • learning
  • give

Every Mind Matters

This is an NHS campaign focusing on protecting and improving people’s mental health.

Their website has useful tips on manging and improving your mental health and you can create your own Mind Plan. They also have advice on supporting children and young people.

Getting active

Lifestyle changes and self-care can help us manage our mental health. For example, being more active, staying connected with those around us, getting enough sleep, avoiding alcohol and eating healthier foods can all help.

Our sport and active lifestyle team aims to help people across North Somerset to be more physically active. Find out more on our sport and physical activity pages.

Healthy Lifestyle Advisers

Our healthy lifestyle advisers can help you eat healthier, exercise more, lose weight, stop smoking or reduce your alcohol consumption. They offer 12 weeks of free support through one-to-ones or in groups settings.

Reading Well

Reading Well, a collection of self-help books, is available in our libraries. The books have been carefully chosen by medical professionals and by people living with mental health conditions to help people understand and manage their health and wellbeing.

Volunteering

Volunteering can be a great way of staying connected to the world around you.

Loneliness

If you are feeling lonely, there are a number of services that can help. They can provide information on groups and activities in your area that can help you make new friends and get involved with your community.

See our reducing loneliness guidance below for more information.
