About Parklands Village
We’re working with St Modwen, Balfour Beatty, Willmott Dixon, Homes England and the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group to create a vibrant new sustainable community at Parklands Village near the M5 motorway junction on the outskirts of Weston-super-Mare.
Over the next 10 years up to 3,650 homes and more than 5,000 new jobs will be created at Parklands Village, playing a vital role in our drive to stimulate growth in the area. Early phases of housing and employment are already complete and occupied.
This quarterly newsletter combines updates from all the partners to keep you up-to-date with all that’s happening.
North South Link Road
The North South Link Road is a two-kilometre road which will run from the A371 in Locking to the A370 at West Wick roundabout near Morrisons and will form the main route through Parklands Village.
Schools in Parklands Village
Work is progressing well on the new permanent Parklands Educate Together Primary School building.
Most of the undeveloped parts of former RAF Locking, now known as Locking Parklands, are owned by Homes England.
GP surgery proposal
We are working in partnership with the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group to develop health facilities at Parklands Village. At our Executive meeting on 5 February a site for a new GP surgery was agreed on land off Anson Road.
New homes on our land
We received planning consent last year for 700 homes, employment and a primary school on land that we own at the north west of Parklands Village.
We’ve secured just under £10m from the Homes England Local Authority Accelerated Construction fund for the first phase of 425 homes. Around 30% of these homes will be affordable housing.
We’ve started looking for a suitable development partner for these homes. The contract should be awarded next summer. The successful developer is expected to start work in 2021/22, finishing by 2025/26.
