Why do I need to register for MyAccount?
Registering for MyAccount makes it easier for you to report and request services, saving you time and money. It also means you can contact us at any time of the day. Contacting us online saves us money which we can use to provide essential services to our residents.
What do I need to register?
You will need an email address, a password and an answer to a security question from our list.
How do I register?
It takes a few minutes to register and you only need to do this once. You’ll be sent an activation email once you’ve entered your details. You need to follow the steps in the email to activate your account before you can use any of the services.register for MyAccount
Do I need to live in North Somerset?
No, if you live outside the area you can still create an account to access some of our online services.
What can I do online?
You can access a range of council services securely, including:
• Council Tax – you can view your details, set up a direct debit, make payments, apply for discounts and amend address details
• Housing Benefit – you can make an application and amend your circumstances
• reporting environmental problems such as graffiti or fly tipping
• reporting a missed waste collection
• requesting a new or replacement bin.
What if I don’t receive an activation email?
If you don’t receive an activation email, it may have gone into your spam or junk folder. If it is not there, try registering again. If that does not work, contact us.
I’m having trouble logging in
You need to use the same email address and password that you entered when you first set up your account. You should also ensure you have activated your account. To do this you need to click on the link in your activation email that we sent you when you registered.
I’ve forgotten my password
You can reset your password from the sign in page. You will be asked to enter the answer to your secret question that you set up when you registered. You can also change your password at any time in MyAccount by clicking on ‘my details’ and selecting ‘change password’. You will then be asked to enter your existing and new passwords.

What is my passcode?
If you contact us by phone to reset your password, we will give you a passcode as part of the security validation. You will need to enter your passcode when you change your password online.
I am trying to reset my password but it is asking me to validate my passcode
If you have contacted us in the past over the phone to reset your password, we would have given you a passcode. If you didn’t reset your password at that time, we will still ask for your passcode when you do it online later. If you can’t remember your passcode, please contact us to request a new passcode.
I no longer have access to the email address I used to register
You can update your email address from within MyAccount. To do this, sign in to MyAccount with your previous email address as normal and in the ‘my details’ section you will find the option to update your email address. There is no need to update your password.
The next time you log in, you will need to enter your new email address.
I want to change the name on my account
To advise us of a name change, for example by marriage or deed poll, email any supporting documentation to firstname.lastname@example.org
