Online event with Australian author

2:18pm - 16 October 2020

North Somerset libraries will be hosting an online event that spans the globe at the end of this month.

Australian author Karen Turner will be talking about her books and answering questions in an international Zoom call on Tuesday 27 October at 7pm UK time. In Melbourne Karen will be getting up early for the call as it will be 6am on Wednesday the 28th for her!

Karen’s latest book 'Stormbird' is set during the Second World War. Jessica is recently widowed and running her small farm in the Yorkshire countryside. After an air raid on Leeds there is a search for the pilot of a downed plane.

Unknown to Jessica he is hiding in her barn and is dangerously ill. She commits to nursing him back to health without telling the authorities, a decision which triggers a series of terrifying events that threatens her freedom and her family.

Karen will be talking about her work and how her family ties to Yorkshire and Italy have inspired her writing. As well as her award-winning novels, Karen writes financial articles for industry publications, runs writing talks and facilitates creative writing workshops.

With this varied background it's sure to be an interesting and entertaining evening with plenty to interest readers and writers alike.
