Occupational Therapy Week celebrated
North Somerset Council has joined forces with North Somerset Community Partnership to showcase the services provided by occupational therapist teams in the area with a week of celebrations.
North Somerset’s Occupation Therapy Week takes place this week (6-10 November) with a series of roadshows where members of the public can try out the equipment occupational therapists use and find out more about the valuable services provided. The locations of the roadshows are:
Monday 6 November: Scotch Horn Centre, Nailsea 11am-2pm
Tuesday 7 November: Campus library, Weston 11am-2pm
Wednesday 8 November: Motex equipment and demonstration centre, Winterstoke Road, Weston 1.30-3pm
Thursday: Town Hall, Weston 11am-2pm
Friday: Clevedon library or Portishead library, 11am-2pm
On Tuesday and Thursday, North Somerset Council’s community meals on wheels team will join the roadshow to provide information about their services too.
Sara Harding, Director of Operations at the North Somerset Community Partnership said: “The work Occupational Therapists do for the community of North Somerset is invaluable to the people they work with.”
“We are promoting their positive contribution during OT Week and hope as many people as possible can find the time to come and learn more about the difference occupational therapists make to lives in North Somerset each day.”
Cllr Dawn Payne, North Somerset Council’s Executive Member for adult social services, said: “We want to use Occupational Therapy Week to inform local people about the huge range of occupational therapy services available to them in North Somerset.
“If you’re not able to get along to a roadshow event, why not arrange a convenient time to call in to our equipment and demonstration centre at the Motex Centre on Winterstoke Road in Weston. There is a wide range of equipment and assistive technology available to try – to book an appointment call 01275 888 804.”
