New inclusive sports club coming to Portishead
A new inclusive multi-sports club is coming to Parish Wharf Leisure Centre in Portishead in the New Year.
The club starts on Thursday 11 January and is for children aged eight to 16 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their siblings.
It will provide a safe and fun environment where children can enjoy regular physical activity and try out a range of different sports including rugby, athletics, tennis, boccia, football, bowls and cricket.
There will be two sessions. The Cosmo Club for children aged eight to 11 will run from 4pm-4.45pm and will be followed by the Galaxy Club for 12 to 16-year-olds from 5pm-5.45pm. The first sessions are free.
They will be run by Nova Sports and Coaching and are supported by the Sport England Inclusive Sport Fund. This fund was awarded to North Somerset Council’s Sport and Active Lifestyles team to increase the provision of activities for children with SEND across North Somerset.
