Google visit deemed a huge success
Google’s recent visit to Weston-super-Mare has been deemed a huge success after seeing more than 100 companies visit The Stable, Weston’s new creative hub, to discover how to improve their digital footprint.
The internet giant offered free digital training at pop-up sessions, Digital Garage, as part of the latest stop on their coastal towns tour.
Holly Law, owner of Replenish in Weston-super-Mare, said: “I found the whole event invaluable. The information and inspiration shared made me look at what I was doing and either feel reassured that I was on the right track, or it inspired me to improve my website and social media. The event was very popular and it was great to see other local small business owners sharing their experiences and ideas in a beautiful venue.”
The Digital Garage event saw Google experts offer one-to-one free mentoring along with the workshops to businesses or individuals interested in learning and developing digital skills.
The Stable’s manager Kerry O’Neill said: “The Google team were fantastic – full of easily digestible insights and specific and practical approaches to help small businesses start making steps towards more efficient digital practices. Google’s visiting experts also thought that The Stable was a great venue for such an event, being a bright, open, quirky and creative space. Everyone I spoke to was very impressed with the quality of the training with many leaving with fresh action plans to help grow their businesses further online.”
The Stable is part of the Weston Town Centre Regeneration Programme that will see improvements to key development sites and infrastructure projects and help to remove barriers and positively encourage investment within the town.
The vision for the town centre is focused around the themes of living, learning and lifestyle, with plans to attract more people to live in the in the town centre creating a lively, university town which will further improve the local economy.
