Celebrating National School Meals Week

As part of celebrating National School Meals Week, parents were invited to go along to Tickenham C of E Primary School to get a taste of what is on offer for their children.

North Somerset Council’s central school meals contractor, Edwards and Wards opened up lunchtime on Monday 13 and Wednesday 15 November and parents were very impressed with what they were served – comments included: “I was very pleased with the quality and portion size of the food, at £2.15 this offers great value for money,” and “Can I have the recipe for the stir fried vegetable chilli wrap as it was delicious and I would like to make it at home.”

Headteacher Tristan Merriam said: “Edwards and Ward are providing an extremely high standard of school meals provision. Having our meals prepared by our school cook on site is great!”

And Edwards and Ward Contracts Manager Sarah Barnes added: “At Edwards and Ward we offer a balanced, well thought out meal. Our lunches feature an element of organically grown and locally sourced foods and all fish and meat is MSC certified/Red Tractor.

“We are delighted to continue to produce over 30,000 meals a week in North Somerset, giving our pupils the energy and nutrition needed to excel in their educational journeys.

“We have always participated with LACA in National School Meals week, as this highlights all that is great with a school meal, as well as having parents come and experience a lunch with their child.”
