Where your recycling goes

We are members of the end destinations of recycling charter.

The end of use materials register describes what happens to the items that we have collected.

All the food waste we collect is sent to an anaerobic digestion plant in Weston-super-Mare, which generates enough electricity to power up to 1,000 homes a year. A nutrient rich fertiliser is also produced from the recycled food waste that can be used on agricultural land as well as woodland, grassland and landfill restoration projects.
