Making decisions about care
Care optionsfind services to support your independence and wellbeing
We can explain options to anyone who needs care, help living at home, or is considering moving into a care home.
We can assess your needs and personal circumstances to help find out what option is best for you, including care at home, care home placement, respite care, day centres and community services.
You are entitled to this assessment regardless of how much money you have, but you may also need to be financially assessed to see if you need to contribute towards the services we provide. If you don’t meet the criteria, have savings or investments of more than £23,250 (joint savings over £46,500), or do not wish to disclose your finances to us, you will be financially responsible for your own social care needs.
If you pay all, or part, of the costs for your social care we can help you make decisions about your care. We offer a free service to help you stay independent for as long as possible, and help you find best value for care services.
We aim to contact people within 5 working days of receiving their referral. Support is given over the telephone or through a home visit. The level of support given is up to the person receiving the service, and is also available to family and carers.
