Access services from home just by entering your library card number.

Visit us to access some online services at the library which you may not be able to at home.

You can:

  • search the catalogue and reserve books and other items
  • renew items you have borrowed

You will need to enter your library card number and personal identification number. If any charges are added to your account as a result of reserving or renewing items, they will be payable on your next visit to a library.

Oxford Dictionary

Access to the Oxford English Dictionary. You will need to add NSC before your library card number.

Encyclopaedia Britannica

The encyclopaedia, including Britannica Junior for 5-11 year olds, and Britannica Student, for information on thousands of subjects.

John Johnson Collection

This has images of archived items offering insights into everyday life in 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries.

Newspapers

Search and read complete copies of The Times from 1785 to 2011 in their digital archive, and see more recent content of UK newspapers including The Times, Sunday Times, Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, Daily Telegraph, The Financial Times, The Guardian, Observer, The Sun, Bristol Post, Western Daily Press, Cheddar Valley Gazette and the Weston and Somerset Mercury. You will need to add NSC before your library card number.
